In 2013, I was asked to help start a new cannabis company as the new MMPR regulations had just been released. Little did I know just how large Aurora’s impact would be.

  • Responsible for all technology, from IT management to advanced, cutting edge technologies

  • Designed and managed all regulatory security compliance systems, including building security

  • Ensured compliance with Health Canada’s regulatory framework

  • Grew from zero budget startup to mega corporation

Superior Safety Codes

IT Manager, 2011-2013

Superior Safety Codes is a permitting and inspection company serving Alberta and parts of Saskatchewan. If you need a building constructed, they’re the ones you call for a permit. While there, I was responsible for all technology systems, and user support.

  • Created an iPad based permitting application; highly advanced in the industry, greatly enhancing inspector productivity

  • Modernized the Windows Active Directory domain

  • Virtualized the network and server infrastructure

  • Implemented containerization for applications

  • Designed and implemented a secure login portal for Municipalities and other stakeholders; modern data access for important customers

Concordia University

Instructor, 2020

In 2020, Concordia was seeking instructors to teach various courses. I volunteered to teach the Cryptography course to graduate students.

  • Taught advanced cryptography

  • Bitcoin, smart cards, one time tokens

  • Course moved online with COVID-19; successful transition to online learning via advanced live streaming

Radar Canary

Owner/Creator, 2016

In 2016, predatory photo radar became a hot topic in Edmonton. I quickly created a radar reporting app, available on the App Store and Play Store. I was interviewed on CTV news on the release day, and saw many thousands of active users. The project has since been sunset.
